Mlauzi Legal Solutions (MLS) is a law firm whose main areas of practice are commercial and corporate law advice, litigation and arbitration, tort claims, employment and labour law, debt collection, drafting and reviewing contracts, reviewing local regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with laws of Malawi, data protection law, conveyancing, Insolvency law and civil law practice generally. MLS is also flexible to handle matters outside these main practice areas.
We have a team of three (3) Practicing Lawyers who are highly experienced, and these comprise of Counsel Dumisani G. Mlauzi, who is the firm’s Managing Partner and Counsel Kayikani Chakuwawa, who is a Partner, Counsel Rasheeda Abbas Twabi, who is an Associate. We also have 2 in-house Lawyers namely: Kelvin Msiska and Bonface Kaponda who await admission to practice. Further, we have 2 experienced Legal Assistants namely: Craig Mwalilino and Victoria Machilika, who work hard in helping Counsel achieve quality service delivery to the satisfaction of our clients.
We have a team that is working around the clock to respond to the clients’ inquiries within 12 hours and where the requested information has been requested outside working hours such requests are attended to as a matter of priority on the next business day. Our team is open to taking phone calls and giving updates on weekends and public holidays as we believe that communication in the business sector is very key and essential to the success of business.
As lawyers we are entrusted by our clients to handle sensitive issues and information. We, therefore, strive to protect the interests of the client and do not get involved in making unethical deals with third parties which may breach our duty to the client and/or be detrimental to our client.
Related to the above issue of integrity, we understand that long-term success of legal practitioners hinges on good ethics. The Malawi Law Society has a Code of Conduct and Ethics which we religiously follow as part of our core values.
We have a core team made up of experienced legal practitioners and legal assistants. Each legal matter is handled by a combination of at least 3 members of the core team. This ensures that there is sharing of ideas and that there is continuity of work in case one officer is unavailable at a particular moment.
We are committed to excellence and high-quality legal work. We achieve high quality legal work by critically understanding instructions from the clients and utilising our excellent legal research skills. We believe that our quality of work is our main benchmark for retaining good clients.
Our core team is committed to achieving good results and completion of instructions. We understand that at times clients give us instructions pertaining to issues which are central to the client’s business continuity. We understand this and treat such instructions with care and conduct over and above our normal standard of care, by among other things, assigning more than 2 members of the core team to such instructions.
Maintaining a free flow of information between the law-firm and the client is important. We give the client regular updates on the instructions which we have been given. Our standards of communication include active attention to incoming calls and returning missed telephone calls as soon as possible; acknowledging receipt of emails promptly; and replying to routine correspondences within 24 hours of receipt.
We execute instructions with speed and diligence. Some instructions are urgent, and they require swift action by filing documents with the court urgently. We ensure that we never miss deadlines for filing court documents by taking action several days before the deadline.
Our core team is encouraged to engage in, and continuously attend professional trainings in order to grow and improve the quality of our legal services, which in turn benefits the client. We also have regular internal training meetings involving the core team and share recent developments in the legal and business sector.
MLS is not affiliated with any political party and conducts its work without any political interference.
